In July, our martial arts community came together under the warm summer sun for an unforgettable tournament that celebrated skill, spirit, and togetherness. Held outdoors in perfect weather, the event featured two of the most exciting elements of our practice: formscompetition and board breaking—and neither disappointed!
From the youngest white belts to our seasoned black belts, participants showcased the results of months (and in many cases, years) of dedication and hard work. The forms division displayed incredible focus, precision, and energy. It was inspiring to watch students of all levels execute their kata with pride, power, and grace—each movement telling its own story.
Then came the adrenaline-pumping board breaking segment. With cheers from the crowd echoing across the field, students stepped up to demonstrate their strength, accuracy, and confidence. From powerful front kicks to crisp hammer fists, each break was met with applause and pride. For many, it was a personal milestone—breaking through not just wood, but fear and self-doubt.
But the tournament wasn’t just about competition—it was also about community. Families and friends gathered to enjoy a delicious picnic spread that rivaled the intensity of the matches! Grilled favorites, fresh summer fruits, and homemade treats were shared under the shade of nearby trees. Laughter and good conversation filled the air, reminding us of the deep bonds formed through martial arts.
As the day wound down, trophies were awarded, high-fives were exchanged, and memories were made. The tournament was not only a success in terms of performance, but in spirit. We left with sun-kissed faces, full stomachs, and hearts full of pride.
A huge thank-you to our volunteers, instructors, families, and most importantly—our students—for making this summer tournament one to remember. We can’t wait to do it again!
Until next time—keep training, keep growing, and see you on the mat!
